In 3 basic modules of half a day each, you will develop practices that strengthen the power to act, free speech, and transform collective dynamics based on popular education!Each module can be taken separately; however, the overall course offers a more coherent learning experience..
Module 1: The theoretical and political foundations of popular education (PE)
Educational objectives:
- Build a common understanding of popular education
- Situate its historical and political roots
- Identify its emancipatory purposes
- Analyze power relations and empowerment
- Understand oppression, privileges, intersectionality
- Strengthen the critical stance
Content:
- Popular education, its history and evolution in Europe and Latin America
- The approach of Dialectical Methodological Design
- The feminist approach, intersectionality, and gender analysis tools
- The concepts of power and empowerment, oppressions and privileges
Module 2: The methodological framework and participatory tools of PE
Educational objectives:
- Understand the logic of dialectical methodological design
- Structure a training process in PE: practice – theory – return to improved practice
- Articulate experience – analysis – action
- Taking ownership of concrete facilitation tools
- Diversifying forms of participation
- Adapting methods to audiences

Module 3: The facilitator's role in popular education
- Clarifying the role of the facilitator in popular education

- Relationship between facilitator and group
- Group dynamics and regulation

APPLIED METHODOLOGIES OF POPULAR EDUCATION
As a popular educator, you will be able to use the applied methodologies of popular education to strengthen collective analysis, value experiential knowledge, and support social transformation dynamics.
Participatory action research: 2-day training
Day 1 : Understanding and experiencing the foundations of PAR
- Exploring our representations: what does it mean to "do research" collectively?
- Discovering the origins and principles of participatory action research (Freire, Fals Borda, Lewin…).
- Experiencing a co-researcher stance through concrete situations.
- Identifying what distinguishes participatory action research from other approaches (evaluation, project, survey…).
Day 2 :Building a participatory action research approach.
- Discovering the main stages of participatory action research: problem identification, mobilization of actors, co-analysis, action, restitution.
- Exploring concrete tools: life story, participatory mapping, photo-voice, etc.
- Developing your own participatory action research project in connection with your professional context.
Life story: 2-day training.
Day 1: Exploring the approach and experimenting with life stories.
- Understanding the origins and scope of life stories.
- Exploring the links between memory, identity, and transformation.
- Exploring techniques and methods useful for working on life stories.
- Identifying the necessary ethical and relational conditions.
Day 2: From individual stories to collective meaning.
- Analyzing the learnings and resonances between the stories.
- Understanding how to connect individual stories to collective memory.
- Designing a life story workshop adapted to your professional or community context.
